Xavier Knight is one of Sydney’s fastest growing engineering consultancy firms in Sydney. Due to the continuous success of our Structural division, we are now looking for an Associate to join our senior leadership team and lead one of our structural engineering teams at XK.

ABOUT THE ROLE

People Leadership

  • Lead a team of talented structural engineers and designers to deliver high-profile and complex technical projects across NSW from concept to completion
  • Responsible for the successful delivery of projects, achieving the best outcomes for our clients.
  • Working in close collaboration with leading architects, builders and developers, your strong technical expertise will enable you to add value to our business and clients.
  • As part of XK’s leadership team, you will be instrumental to our team’s success and will have opportunities to contribute to business strategy development and lead business development initiatives.
  • Provide mentoring support for our junior staff, guiding and coaching the next generation of designers
  • Share your knowledge with the wider team while further developing your engineering management and design skills

Project:

  • Take ownership over ensuring all deliverables meet the client’s brief and project objectives
  • Understanding of project performance principles, with experience monitoring and reporting on project progress, ensuring the delivery of high-quality results from proposals through to project completion documentation
  • Manage and mitigate technical risks, safety in design and value engineering during the design processes
  • Provide your project teams with quality assurance reviews, technical guidance and support to achieve project success
  • Manage day-to-day communication and coordination with project partners and relevant stakeholders
  • Sound understanding of the Design Builders Practitioners regulations and requirements

As an experienced Structural Engineer at a leadership level, you have a demonstrated experience in the following:

ABOUT YOU

  • Highly driven with great energy and passion for leading people and developing business
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering
  • Membership with Engineers Australia as CPEng and NER
  • DBPA Professional Engineer & Design Practitioner Registration (preferred)
  • Minimum 7 years of structural engineering design experience within an engineering consultancy
  • Love to engage with others to build positive and long-lasting relationships
  • Committed to continually adding value by raising the performance of your work and the work of others around you

Technical:

  • Comprehensive understanding of structural design principles and their application to engineering design and construction
  • Thorough understanding of Australian Building Codes and Standards, and their application
  • Experience in developing value management and value engineering concepts
  • Experience in producing technical reports and developing concepts that add value to a project
  • High-level of competence using engineering design software, such as ETABS, SAFE and Bentley Structural Enterprise software
  • Experience in several of the following areas of design: masonry, composite construction, post tensioned concrete, precast concrete, pre-tension, pre-stressed concrete, reinforced concrete, structural steel, timber and cross laminated timber panel construction, shoring and substructures.
  • Awareness of current industry practices, proprietary products, materials and construction techniques, and application within projects
  • Develops complex engineering analysis models and prepares calculations with high precision and accuracy
  • Developed ability in identifying potential engineering outcome issues and providing effective solutions
