Description

In this role, you will lead high-profile projects across Sydney from concept to completion, applying and developing your technical skills to creatively tackle complex engineering problems, delivering high-quality and detailed designs. You will represent XK on these projects, managing and developing valuable relationships with project partners, including architects, consultants, project managers and builders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering

Role Requirements

Technical:

  • Minimum 3 years of facade engineering design experience within an engineering consultancy

Knowledge and understanding of:

  • Structural design principles and their application to engineering design and construction
  • Australian Building Codes and Standards and their practical application
  • Façade systems, façade design and materials manufacture a distinct advantage
  • The latest industry practices, proprietary products, materials and construction techniques, and their application
  • Value management and value engineering concepts

Experience in:

  • Carrying out design engineering for façade, cladding, masonry, and steel
  • Reviewing contractor shop drawings and calculations
  • Attending inspections during construction, installation and fabrication on façade elements and their weather proofing installation
  • ACAD, Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Use computer-assisted façade engineering and design software
  • Developing complex analysis models and preparing calculations with high precision and accuracy
  • Producing technical reports and developing concepts that add value to a project

New build facade performance design and specification

  • Providing advice to façade and waterproofing contractors regarding facade detailing and performance
  • Conduct façade performance mock-up test unit inspection to assist clients in meeting the Australian Standards
  • Conduct independent calculation and shop drawing peer review

Building Envelope design

  • Technical due diligence assessments and design for building envelopes
  • Building waterproofing

Highly Regarded:

  • Knowledge of 3D geometrical analysis (Grasshopper, Excel, etc.)
  • Knowledge of Thermal simulation software tools (THERM & Windows Fenestration software)
  • Finite element analysis with the ability to develop complex analysis models.
  • Knowledge of building materials and durability assessment

Project Delivery:

  • Good understanding of project management principles and application in day-to-day tasks and project delivery
  • Able to provide technical guidance and support to engineers and draftspersons
  • Able to lead design development and manage the quality of deliverables produced by the project team
