In the heart of Westmead, this development consists of 65 residential apartments over 6 levels, commercial space and 2 basement parking floors below natural level ground.

The project presented major design challenges with a large cantilever slab corner over the basement entrance, where no column support options were available and the only support options were from the floors above.

Our team developed an innovative solution, utilising the wall above the slab as a deep beam structure, cantilevering from the available columns supports below to provide the required support for the slab corner. As part of the solution, Johann led the team to develop the additional temporary propping specifications required below the slab corner until the relevant above structural elements reached full strength.
