Tell us a bit about you:

I have been fortunate enough to have lived in many countries such as Jordan, the US and Australia, where I had the opportunity to learn from diverse cultures. My multicultural upbringing has given me the opportunities to see life from varying perspectives. Diversity and inclusion have meant so much to me.

Building relationships from different cultures is critical in making significant changes in our communities which is why I am so passionate about my work. I always apply a human-centred design approach to design for a diverse world.

My passion for learning about different cultures led me to Australia three years ago, where I have met many incredible people.

Outside of work, I enjoy my spare time with salsa dancing and Brazilian jiu-jitsu. I also love going to the beach, even during the winter.

What’s the best thing about being an engineer?

The breath-taking feeling you get when you look at a cool looking building and say… ‘I did the design on that.’

I am an expert in…?

I am highly experienced in the structural design of high-rise building and am regularly exposed to challenging problems relating to wind and seismic design. I have also developed strong technical knowledge in structural dynamics.

Having worked as a construction services engineer, I can add value by providing construction solutions relating to sequencing, demolition, and temporary structures.

The demanding nature of complex projects has pushed me to constantly improve my finite element analysis skills. It allows me to deliver the design of various steel structures and complex connections.

What is it about the industry that motivates you?

The construction industry is tough, and the projects get demanding at times. Some people experience high level of stress being in this industry… but I don’t.

I believe in effective communication between the relevant stakeholders of the project to ensure the best outcome for all the parties involved in the delivery. The challenges in a project’s journey makes the reward sweeter.

I like to pursue what is meaningful, not what is easy.

Finally, what are you looking forward to at XK?

I look forward to growing with my team. I want us to find meaning in what we do on daily basis while delivering high quality designs and building strong relationships with our clients.
