McRae-McMahon Place by Uniting is a new independent living village, offering 45 apartments in Sydney’s inner-west. The design approach on this project aims at promoting autonomy and dignity for aged care residents, fostering quality of life.

The project features two 6 storey buildings rising over a common podium. The communal facilities include an indoor swimming pool, multi-function space, extensive landscaping and gardens for residents’ enjoyment.

The building envelope was meticulously designed to fit in with the overall character of Leichhardt using a variety of elements such as glass, brick and render.

Engineering challenges include high-end architectural finishes to structural elements, post tensioned slab to allow for large columns spacing providing flexibility in the layout and reinforced concrete columns and walls.

Other scope of works includes façade engineering and stormwater and public domain design solutions.
